Ball and Bats

Wolfies!!

So we headed down to London last Saturday for 2 days of smashing and brain eating in the Turbosnakemaster van. The soundtrack to our journey was Journey. Our first date?...a night called Adventures In The Beetroot Field at Imperial College University, with XXTeens, The Golden Silvers, Zane Lowe, Fern Cotton (har) and more.

Two and a half hours later...

We arrive in London and i'm desperate for some piss action. This was bad, stuck in traffic on some big road on the way into London. I say to Chris "i need to piss it out!", and hes all like "piss in that 5 litre bottle of water in the back, but empty the water into some other bottles first". A good plan, maybe, but trying to trickle water into several bottles while desperate for a piss is like tying to light a cigarette while on fire. I jumped out of our moving van, ran across traffic, jumped a fence and found a piss haven...a beautifully disgusting underground car-park, where i had a brilliant time. Thank you London. I had to move fast, the van was driving off. I ran back and jumped in van. Sex party, i was all good.

We arrive and...Holy Cats!! It's a Ball?! Like with tuxes and funk like that. The gig room was inside some old University building, tucked away from the rest of the party and a few steps from the Drum&Bass arena. Yeah thats right. So we soundcheck, start drinking, check out the fun-fair, watch a girl throw up onto her shoes, while Fern Cotton provided the soundtrack. Oh and the courtyard we were in had a 700ft tall tower built for some dude, by some chick.

We went off to see a huge gold statue of some dude in Hyde park. Amazing! So sick. There was a stage set up too where Late Of The Pier were playing. Flurr. A quick meal out at Stick&Bowl and we're ready to slam it out. We get back to the tux party and we get onstage. As i start the set its clear things aren't gonna go well. No sound. Then too much sound, everything feeds back eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeppppp!!!!!!! Then no bass. Then no sound. Nothing. So we do a acappella of God Save The Queen, and continue once some sound has returned. We finish with Power!!!!!, blow some kisses and leave.

A few hours kip on the floor and we're ready to get to the Barfly...a 14+ show at the Barfly with The Ghost Frequency, This City and Outcry Collective (all pictured above).
This was Rad! All the bands were sick, crowd was amazing, generally wicked. We played just before The Ghost Frequency. The packed room was full of hungry for hell kids. We slayed. After a t-shirt swap and plans to gig together again, we get out. Back on the road to Bristol, with Journey.

Thanks to all the bands we met and played with this weekend. All lovely people we look forward to hanging out and playing with again. And a big thank you to all the kids in the Barfly who went nuts for us.

Much Love,

Christopher x

Things We Love, vol.1

Hello Wolfies! Just a quick heads-up on whats happening wolfwise at the moment.....so we were hanging out with Mark Strawberry (of '9Koala' fame) the other day, and well, he was eating a chocolate sandwich when Andy yelled "DRAGON BALL Z!!!!!". Needless to say, the Strawb dropped his sandwich and we all had to scrap until we were friends again. We recorded some songs later that day. They sound great.

Lots of love,

Christopher x

Fucking Hell

Jake and Dinos Chapman's awesome exhibition 'Fucking Hell' is showing at the Mason's Yard White cube until 12th July and must be seen. See Jakeanddinoschapman.com for a sense of how incredible the exhibition is. Also, the main attraction is their new exhibit 'If Hitler Had Been A Hippy How Happy Would We Be' a series of Hitler's 'bland' water colours that they bought for £115,000 and then Hippied up with stars, hearts and psychedelic rainbows. Amazing.

Monotonix Shows

So we were in the van, listening to Pantera, and thought, well, lets try something else so we shoved on some Billy Idol, Meatloaf, Le Tigre, Europe, Dire Straits and Metallica but at the end of the day, you just don't get to where you're going without putting Pantera back on.

If you think Pantera are a bit too vibratory and you want to watch an actual show, then one answer, three times over, is MONOTONIX MONOTONIX MONOTONIX! We were DJing at their show show in Bristol last night and were blown away. Chris our singer may have a moustache, but not one that is connnected to his pubes by the same matt of hair. And I've never seen Chris pull breakdance freeze poses on the drummer's back while he's playing. Nor has he chucked the nearest sanitary towel bin over drummer's head and shoved bloody tampons into his mouth without him missing a beat (apart from when the bass drum ends up at the other end of the room).

I still went home and listened to Pantera, though.
