Maida Vale

Hey Shnozzers, how's it hanging?

So we just got back from our latest London jaunt, had a Levi's
Ones To Watch show in the Barfly (cheers Joel!) and a Maida
Vale Session for Rob Da Bank's show (cheers Rob!).

It started off trying to ditch the van in a dodgy parking yard so
we could get into radio 1's main studios to record some voice
bits to go with the songs. God knows how they'll turn out, it's
kinda weird talking straight when you're in Jo Whiley's chair
after she's just left the room while Edith Bo-Man interviews
Huge Ackman (Wolverine, of course!) live through a window in
the studio next door. It's all over too way too quick to realise
that all we've just said is complete shit but I'm sure those
editors will make us sound like we're as cool as Huge himself
did next door. Actually they were piping his interview into the
bogs as well, he sounded even cooler in there.

Onward then to Camden for the Barfly show. Surrounded by
good friends and all in the luxury of their new dressing rooms,
it really made us feel like the privileged scumbags we should
be by now, relaxing in the shit-stinking fumes of our own
arses! It's been a couple of weeks since we played so the hot
lights and expectant crowd was a welcome sight! Another
chance to spaff it out good and proper!

After a long, drawn-out night, and a quick snooze, it's time
to race across London to try and find this Maida Vale place.
Thinking we're all set up for disaster, getting the van stuck in
a Saisbury's car park and too many roadworks, we made it on
the dot! Of all the minutes in the day, how do things always
end up working out on the one minute you least expect?

We haven't had a recording session go so smoothly as this one
did. Basically, Miti is a hero, whilst setting up our stuff, we
already felt he knew who we were and what we were there for.
3 hours after pulling up at the door, we had 3 hot tracks
sounding almost exactly how we wanted! A tiny bit of mixing
here and there and that was it! I'm listening to them now
actually (but you've got to wait, haha!) and they sound so gritty
it's amazing. And scarily fast too! TURBO SESSION. We found
out the old tape set-up they've got is due to be digitalised the
fuck out of there pretty soon. Don't do it BBC! It's worth every
penny to keep it running. If it goes, thank god we got in
there first!

See you all soon!
